Saiful Huq Omi

Saiful Huq Omi, Bangladesh, first studied telecoms engineering, before taking up photography in 2005. His photos have appeared in The New York Times, Newsweek, Time and Asian Photography, among others. His work has been exhibited in galleries from Zimbabwe and Russia to Japan and his home country.

Andrew Biraj

Andrew Biraj was born in 1982 in Bangladesh. He holds an advanced diploma in photography from Pathshala, the South Asian Institute Media Academy and a BA in photography from the University of Bolton, UK. Biraj was a participant in the 2008 World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass.

Din Muhammad Shibly

Din Muhammad Shibly is a professional photographer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh with a special interest in documentary photography. He was born in the year 1977 in Rajshahi, head of one of the northern divisions. Shibly completed his post graduation on Mass Communication from University of Rajshahi in 1999.

Monirul Alam

Monirul Alam born in Old Dhaka 1975. He took up photography in 1994. After completing his Bachelors in Accounting from the National University, he went on to graduate from Pathshala, the South Asian Institute of Photography. Monirul currently works as a deputy cheif photojournalist in The Daily Prothom Alo newspaper.

Bashir Ahmed Sujan

Bashir Ahmed sujaN (born in 1972) is a member photographer of Map Photo Agency working as a professional since 1996. He works as a documentary photographer and also engages himself with the corporate world doing fashion, spot news, event, product, Wedding Documentary and portfolio making. A self- taught photographer. Sujan Conducted several photography training workshop for NGOs, Corporate office, Students, during 2002-2013.

Syed Latif Hossain

Syed Latif Hossain, born in 1970, is a self-taught photographer and graphic designer. Taking photography from early childhood, he started as a professional freelance photographer from 1997. With an ingrained disinclination towards competition, he remained less known to the mainstream photographic arena. However, his works have been exhibited in a number of group exhibitions both in Bangladesh and abroad mainly as a member of now defunct Aalok group of photographers.

Saud Al Faisal

Faisal started to develop his passion for photography in an early student age and completed his Diploma in Black & White Photography from Alliance Française de Dhaka in 1996. During his long active endeavors in photography, Faisal has received recognitions from various national and international arenas. He organized, participated and also served in different capacities in a wide range of exhibitions and workshops. His works was exhibited and published in many countries worldwide.

Md. Atiqur Rahman Sabuj

Md. Atiqur Rahman Sabuj born in Mymenshingh 1977.He took up Photography in 1999. He has completed Master degree (Management) from National university ,MBA(Finance) From Stamford University of Bangladesh , Basic Course on photography from Bangladesh
Photographic Institute (BPI),Basic Course on Digital Photography from Prism, Diploma On Photography from Chanchal Mahmudh Photography Institute. Now he is working at Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL).

Reza Shahriar Rahman

I was born in 1989, in a middle class family in Bangladesh. I studied computer science, before leaving my computer career to study photography in Pathshala South Asian Media Institute from 2010 to 2013. I learnt photography from the masters like Morten Krogvold, Philip Blenkinsop, Max Pam and AsimRafiqui. I also worked under mentorship of SaifulHuq Omi for a year.

Ahmed Rasel

Ahmed Rasel, born in 1988, is a documentary Photographer based in Bangladesh. He completed MA in Bengali Literature from Dhaka University in 2013. In 2014 he completed Mentorship Program under SaifulHuq Omi and also completed One Year Diploma Program on Professional Photography at Counter Foto. His photographs got published in Trouw, Private Magazine, F-stop magazine, The Daily Independent, The Daily OrthonityProtidin among others. His work has been presented in Just Another Photo Festival Delhi and exhibited in several galleries of Bangladesh and has achieved several awards.

Ekramul Kobir Sohan

EkramulKabirShohan born (1983) and grown up in Old Dhaka. After his university education, he started filmmaking career as Production Manager in 2006to understand filmmaking process up close. Ekramul cinematographed a documentary film on Rohingya refugees for Aljazeera television network and his work also appeared in BBC and Channel 4 television, London. Now he has been working as cinematographer in two feature length documentary projects directed by documentary filmmaker ManzareHasin and photographer SaifulHuq Omi. Another two independent fiction films are on the postproduction stage. Ekramul has been developing an ideaof a documentary film evolving around the themeof life in borderland.

Faiham Ebna Sharif

Currently working as a freelance photo journalist. I did my honors and masters in International Relations at the University of Dhaka before studying Photography. I finished my ‘One Year Diploma on Photography’ at Counter Foto. Before taking photography classes, I worked as a reporter and broadcaster. I had the opportunity to work in featured films and international productions as well.

Kazi Riasat Alve

Kazi Riasat Alve was born in June 22 1990. At first he was a student of business school but serious passion about photography leaded him to become a photographer. He is interested in photographing social and humanitarian issues mainly. He completed mentorship of Saiful Huq Omi at Counter Foto and completed one year diploma program at the same institute. He also participated in workshops conducted by Philip Blenkinsop,Pieter Ten Hoopen, Giulio Di Struco, and Catherine Karnow.

Khaled Asif

Khaled Asif was born in Dhaka, in the year 1968. From very early years, he was an avid amateur photographer, and after getting a masters degree in Finance from Dhaka University, he started to work professionally as a Graphic Designer and Photographer. He has a very keen enthusiasm for Photographic Reproduction and specializes in Photo Retouching and Photography Book Designing. He regularly does Photo Post Process work for many renowned photographers. His list of Clients include – Saiful Huq Omi, Shahria Sharmin, Hasan Saifuddin Chandan, Shafiqul Alam Kiron, Mustafiz Mamun, Hasan Bipul, Emdadul Islam Bitu, Jonathan Munshi etc.

Muhammad Aminuzzaman

I completed my Master of Commerce in 1995 from the University of Dhaka before pursuing my PhD in “A Study of Photography in Bangladesh: 1972-1990” at Vrije Universiteit Brussels in Belgium. I’ve completed a three-year course on photography from Pathshala, the South Asian Institute of Photography. I received Training of trainers for tutors by World Press Photo held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I am a fulltime teacher at Green University of Bangladesh. I worked as a teacher at BRAC University, Independent University of Bangladesh and Pathshala South Asian Media Institute previously. My photography had been exhibited in Bangladesh, Germany, Netherlands and Malaysia. My images were published in Time Journal of Photography, The Saudi Aramco World and the book, Our World of Water by Oxfam GB. I also contributed to five documentaries filmed in Bangladesh and in India which were broadcasted on BBC’s ‘Earth Report’.

Prito Reza

Prito Reza is a photojournalist and a pioneer of the wedding photography industry in Bangladesh. He is the founder & CEO of Wedding Diary. Having earned his degree from the South Asian Institute of Photography (PATHSHALA), Prito has worked for reputed Bangladeshi dailies like The Daily Ittefaq, New Age, The Daily Star, DrikNEWS, Daily Ajker Kagoj and Bhorer Kagoj. He has also worked as a Photo Editor for four prominent magazines of ICE Media Limited (ICE Today, ICE Business Times, Charbela Chardik, Bengal Barota). Prito Reza is the Photographer Ambassador of Fujifilm. Bangladesh as well as the Ambassador of WPPA in Bangladesh. He hosts ‘’DARKROOM,’’ Bangladesh’s only photography-based TV show on ATN News. Prito is an U.S. Department of State Professional Fellow & Alumni.

Shantanu Majumder

Shantanu Majumder was born in 1984. He is a freelance photographer based in Bangladesh. He studied in graphic design from Dhaka University before picking up photography as his own voice. He worked under mentorship of Saiful Huq Omi at Counter Foto. Later he obtained professional diploma degree on photography from the same institute. When he was a student at Counter Foto, he participated in masterclass workshops of Pieter Ten Hoopen, Asim Rafiqui and Giulio Di Sturco. Now he is working on his own independent photographic projects.

Shah Sazzad Hossain

I was born in 1959, and graduated (2009) from Pathshala – the South Asian Media Academy and Institute of Photography. I shall be doing Social documentary. With my perpetual habit of mixing with all classes & generations I do develop an idea, but what are noticeable to me are the extreme gaps between generations and classes in my country.I concede that every documentary incorporate the perspective of the photographer. But then I concluded everything constitutional of society, state and policy are perceived.

Munir Uz Zaman

MunirUz Zaman, started his carries with a local news agency in 2005. In 2008 he started to work with Agence France-Presse (AFP). By this time, he covered most of the important news breaks in Bangladesh and his works widely publish all over the world, such as New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Time Magazine, Guardian etc. As well as he has worked for Los Angels times as their South Asian Region correspondent. In 2012 he was embedding with US army in Afghanistan. He was honored with few international awards for his outstanding work on Rohingyain 2012 and Garments building collapsed in Bangladesh in 2013.

Sharat Chowdhury

MoiyenZalal Chowdhury (Sharat), popularly known as Sharat Chowdhury was born in1983, Bangladesh. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Anthropology at Hiroshima University, Japan.Trained in Anthropology and Mass Communication consecutively at Jahangirnagar University and Dhaka University he worked in diverse fields like research, social media, teaching, and photojournalism.

He has pioneered research on Social Media in Bangladesh. Though his research interest expands to identity politics, visual representation, Islam, and popular culture. His current research is focused on civil resistance.One decade in Blogging and creative writing, his interest expands to publishing, activism, community mobilization both in the underpinning of scholarly and political curiosity.Teaching is one of his passions, and he will be teaching at Jogukan University at Hiroshima soon. He is Currently the vice president of Hiroshima University International student association and coordinator of the Mobukagakusho scholarship of IDEC.

Pieter ten Hoopen

Pieter ten Hoopen is an experienced and internationally acclaimed photographer based in Stockholm, Sweden. Transitioning between editorial work, personal projects and commercial assignments.

Asim Rafiqui

Asim Rafiqui is an independent photographer based in Stockholm, Sweden. He has been working professionally since 2003 and has been focusing on issues related to the aftermath of conflict.

Maggie Steber

Justin Maxon

Justin Maxon (1983) was born in a small town in the woods of northern California. While attending journalism school at San Francisco State, he began exploring projects that held greater social implications. His desire now is to reveal different variables of truth in humanities conflicted existence.

Dana Popa

Born in Romania, I am currently based in the UK. I completed the MA Documentary Photography and Photojournalism at London College of Communication. My interests lie within contemporary social issues, with a particular emphasis on human rights. I have been working mostly in Eastern Europe and the UK.

Peter van Agtmael

Peter van Agtmael (b. 1981) graduated from Yale University in 2003 with a degree in History.  Following graduation, he spent a year in China on the Charles P. Howland fellowship photographing the effects of the Three Gorges Dam. He became a freelance photographer at the end of 2004.

Patrick Brown

Born in Sheffield, England, Patrick Brown spent a nomadic childhood living in the Middle East, Canada and Africa before his family finally settled in Perth, Western Australia. He found himself increasingly drawn to documentary photography, and was greatly influenced by images of war and urban strife during the 1980’s and 90’s.

Walter Astrada

Walter Astrada was born in 1974 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  He started his career as a staff photographer at the local, La Nacion newspaper. After a formative trip through South America, he joined the Associated Press in Bolivia and later in Argentina, Paraguay and then the Dominican Republic.

Giulio di Sturco

Giulio di Sturco is a 32-year-old Italian photographer currently based in Bangkok, Thailand. He studied photography at the European Institute of Design and Visual Arts in Rome, and his work has appeared on many international publication such as L’espresso magazine, Vanity fair, Io Donna, The Daily Telegraph magazine, Time magazine, MarieClaire, geo magazine,The Sunday Times Magazine, Newsweek.
